Birthday

Today is my 26th birthday. I am at home with the flu....well, recovering from the flu. I got sick on Wednesday and missed work Thursday. I am normally off Fri-Sun and then the doctor told me not to go back to work until Tuesday so that I wouldn't get anyone else sick and so I wouldn't catch anything else while my immune system is already weakened. So I am on day 5 of my sitting on the couch wathing movies/home improvement tv shows marathon. 5 days of that is really about 3 1/2 days too many. I am feeling pretty good with the exception of a cough. Andy brought lunch home and while he was here the doorbell rang. The FEDEX man brought my birthday present! Andy got me these really cool stackable rings from Sundance (my favorite jewelry place!)

The blue one is technically blue topaz but it look just like aquamarine which is my birthstone. Yesterday Liz and her sister Sus came by on her way to the airport. She was in OKC for a couple of days and we were supposed to meet for lunch on Friday but since I was quarantined I couldn't make it. So she brought me a bday present (some earrings, a scarf, cd, and pjs). Thanks Liz! I tried to wear the scarf this morning but Yoda just kept sniffing me because I guess it smells like Schnoozeberry. I also got to talk to Amy Riedel yesterday! It was so great to hear from her....I havent talked to her in over a year. She is going to become a loyal reader of this blog :) HI AMY!

Liz "tagged" me on her blog probably over a month ago...but I forgot until now so here it goes....

Long overdue....

In my last post I forget to mention one of our major highlights of January....Josh, Sara, Jake and Luke came to OKC to visit! (I forgot to post these photos because they were taken with Andy's camera and uploaded on the "other" computer.) So while they were here we went to Pole Position and the guys raced while Sara and I hung out with the Jakester.

Luke

Andy

Josh

Uncle Andy and Jake playing with Grandpa Dave's guitar. Jake loved playing the guitar.

Jake was playing in the office with Andy and Luke and I was sitting in the hallway taking pictures of them. He started to play the open the door-close the door game and this was the look he gave me just before he shut the door in my face. We had lots of fun with our family and we can't wait to hang out again!

video madness

Here are a few videos from our last couple of weeks. I apologize for the first two being sideways, but I couldn't figure out how to rotate them. I will try to figure that out before i post more.

Video #1: Tucker, who is getting SO big, is playing ball with Andy.

Video #2: Yoda proving that white dogs can't jump.

Video #3: We had a young married dept Valentine banquet at church. Each class was responsible for providing a few minutes of entertainment. This is our class's contribution.

I was going to write more and add a few more pictures, but it took too long for those videos to load and now we have to leave. We are taking Financial Peace at church and tonight we are learning about "dumping debt." We will be millionaires in no time!!

January Stuff

Well it has been so long since I have blogged so I am just going to do a list thingie to hopefully cover it all.

  • New years eve: I worked until about 5:30 and came home. We didnt have any plans yet, and I was not even sure that I would be able to stay awake until midnight. We ended up getting together with some friends and playing games. We made it to midnight and past.

  • New years day andy and I took down our Christmas stuff.
  • We went to Dave and Gwen's house to watch OU play in the Fiesta Bowl. The game was really depressing, but we had fun hanging out. Dave and Gwen had gotten their dog Trouble this HUGE rawhide bone thing and it was hilarious to watch her chew on it.

  • We went to Owasso the next weekend for Parker's 1st birthday party! There was baby bottle bowling and birthday cake. After Parker smeared cake all over himself, Mike put him--clothing and all--straight into the bathtub. We got him a drum that says the alphabet in english and spanish so he can be a biligual drummer boy.

if you look next to parker you can see a little yellow wooden bus and the top of a red car that my dad made! he is so handy!

  • We help out with the youth on Wednesdays and for the month of January they are having competitions among all the grades and between girls and guys. One of the funniest was the tug-o-war competition....just look at some of the faces. These people were taking it seriously!

  • One sunday afternoon it was nearly 70 degrees so Andy and I decided to go for a drive in the Monte Carlo. We took the t-tops off and brought the dogs with us. They LOVED the drive. I usually only crack the windows and let yoda stick his little nose out, but since it was so nice i let him kinda prop on the edge of the door. I put his leash on him so I could hang onto him in case we turned too fast...and he was doing great, and tucker was just sitting in the middle of the back seat letting his hair blow in the wind. so after we had been driving around for about 30 minutes we turned into a neighborhood...we were going pretty slow (thankfully!) and yoda jumped out of the car!!! i was still holding his leash so i just grabbed really tight but was so afraid that he would get run over by the back tires. CRAZY DOG! I could not figure out what he wanted to get at so badly that he would jump out of a moving car, but needless to say we rolled up the windows and banished him to the back seat after that! and he was just fine...he only had a little scratch on his back leg--maybe from the leash.

  • I went to a continuing education class this past weekend (Fri, Sat and Sun) in Tulsa. I took Monday (today) off so I could let my brain recover and get some things done around the house. Andy has been sick and he woke up this morning again with a fever so he stayed home. We have been lounging on the couch and right now we are watching last week's American Idol. A few minutes ago we looked over and Yoda was napping in a rather strange position... I think that covers most everything....maybe i will post again in about a month....

busy busy holiday

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Mike likes to put Parker in Yoda's kennel. (don't worry....it is only for a few seconds) Parker doesn't seem to mind.

where should I begin? we have been very busy around here.

Friday, December 14th we had our sunday school Christmas party at our house. We had about 30 people here for a potluck dinner, ornament/gift card exchange and Christmas Jeopardy--guys vs girls and the girls got killed! it was sad really.

Saturday, December 15th we went to Andy's work Christmas party. The original plan was chili at Brad's house, but Friday he had told the guys that we would be going out somewhere instead. We arrive at Brad's house and hang out for awhile then he tells us we are going to Boulevard Steakhouse. We had a private room and Andy and I spent most of our time talking to Sus and Chris. We had a great time. Andy went into the bar area with the guys and smoked a cigar---and the smell left over totally grosses me out, so as soon as we got home he had to put all his clothes in the washer and shower and brush/listerine. After that we put on our PJs and I made wassail and we got in the car and went out looking at Christmas lights. I think that will be a new tradition for us.

Sunday, December 16th we went to church and came home and cleaned up the house and began cooking lasagna. We had 55 teenagers and youth sponsors at our house. They were doing a progressive dinner and our house was the stop for the entree. Our house was packed! We borrowed tables from friends and people still were sitting on the floor...but they are teenagers and they dont care. Justin, the youth pastor had originally told me they would be there at 6:15, but at 5:45 I looked out the front door and saw the church bus pull up. Thank the Lord we were mostly ready at that point! After they left, we cleaned up a little and then met up with them at their last stop--a coffee shop in bricktown for hot chocolate and dirty santa. We ended up with some ugle necklace and hair clip.

Monday, December 17th was Andy's birthday. He wanted to race go karts at Pole position, so i thought i would be clever and email some of his guy friends and have them meet us there so he wouldnt have to just race against me, because I suck. So 4 guys show up and as soon as they all get there they announce that a corporate challenge endurance race is about to start and there will be no more public racing that night. so sad! so instead we went and ate at Teds with 2 other couples and had a good time. I bought Andy tickets to three of the OU Men's bball games and the OU coach's polo shirt. I think he had a good time.

Tuesday, Dec 18th, we have a redo of the previous night but we just go with Daniel and Canaan. Canaan hated racing last time so Daniel, andy and I race and canaan took pictures, then andy and daniel raced again. then we went to Old Chicago for some yummmmmmy pizza!

Friday, December 21st. i cooked all day (zucchini bread, cinnamon candy, and cinnamon roasted almonds...oh and i tried your dog treat recipes Liz!--the dogs liked them but i forgot to refrigerate them while we were gone and i came home and they were covered in mold!) that night we went with justin, kelli, marcus and kristin to Bricktown to ice skate or snow tube....we hadnt decided which we were going to do. We ate at coach's and had to wait FOREVER for a table because there was a family that had been in there since 3 that afternoon (we were there at 7) and they were taking up on of the few large tables. We decided we would ice skate but when we got there they didnt have any skates that would fit andy so we went to play laser tag instead. so much fun! the girls TRIED to team up against the boys but we really got stomped.

Saturday Dec 22nd, we delivered bread and candy to a few friends and then went to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra at the Ford Center. It was snowing/sleeting and was really windy so the walk from the car to the Ford Center was painful, but the concert was great. It was REALLY loud and we were too close to the speakers. i think i may have damaged my hearing permanently, but it was fun. Then we headed home to pick up with dogs and drive to owasso. We got there about 9:00 and mike, ame and parker were there. Then at about 10:30 cindy and the girls got there. We hung out for awhile and then headed to bed.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday....baking, grocery shopping, wrapping presents, playing with autumn, maya, and parker. andy and dad spent all day Christmas Eve outside chopping up limbs and trees that fell during the ice storm. mom and dad lost a ton of trees and branches.

here are some of the great things that were said over the Christmas weekend

  • Maya looking at the games we had..."Oh, we could play scatterhead!" (Meaning scattergories) For some reason this was very amusing, though now that I am typing it it doesnt sound as funny.
  • Autumn, apparently repeating what her mom had told her. "I know I am supposed to wait patiently to open presents, but waiting patiently is boring!"
  • Cindy, after struggling with the girls over dinner..."I give up. I'm not raising children anymore." Autumn's response: "Alright!!! We're free!!! Let's go!!!"

Andy and I headed home Tuesday evening so we could both work Wednesday. It was hard to get up on Wednesday, but we made it to the weekend :) This weekend has been fairly uneventful. Watched movies, did some shopping to spend Christmas money, napped, cooked lots of soup to freeze and take for lunches, went to doggie obedience class and that is about it.

More random pictures

Here we are playing cranium with our friends Daniel and Canaan. This is the one where you use your partner as a puppet...here I am making Andy mow the yard :) Obviously we did not do very well on this one.
Andy moving the rug back into the living room....interesting technique. We had to shampoo it because Tucker peed on it 900 times.
Watching the Big 12 Championship game....BOOMER SOONER!

Here is Andy up on the roof putting up our Christmas lights. This was the weekend before Thanksgiving and it was nearly 80 degrees outside so he figured it was better to put them up early than put them up in the freezing cold. I was very nervous the whole time he was up there and he kept telling me that I am just a baby, but I have treated patients that have fallen off the roof putting up christmas lights and I really didn't want to have Andy as a patient again.

Making pies for Thanksgiving. Tucker was being very helpful.

Tucker tangled in the hose.
